So lately i have been asked by fellow photographers, friends and family... How do i know i am getting better?
Well is this not the REAL question we all ask ourselves? Am I getting better at what I do?... Have i progressed at all since i started, or have i progressed from last month. How do I even know for sure that i have gotten better? There are a few ways to understand and figure out if you have gotten better. One of the ways i like to test myself is to do what i call Re-Edits. This simply means what it says. I go back to past shoots, take the RAW file from scratch and Re-Edit it. I then compare it to the original final copy and see which one is better. Now this is only a skill that involves the editing process. if i wanted to see if i have gotten better with lighting, i would simply Re-Shoot the photo if i can. Would i add more light? add more diffusion, Move the subject this way, move the subject that way. The same can be said for pretty much anything. The Key is to Re-Do what you already did, and see which one comes out better. If your new image comes out better then you have improved your knowledge. If it does not come out better then chances are your original shoot was just a lucky test shot, and you still have some learning to do. Here are 2 images from over a year ago i went back and Re-Edited to see how much difference my new knowledge could have made.

Hello, I just wanted to share with you some of my personal favorite shots that i have taken over the past few years. I plan on doing this more often and trying to get out and shoot more with more creativity. Every month or so i will re-post my favorite shots that i have taken to hopefully get you created and inspired to go outside and shoot more! So without Further distractions... Here are MY FAVORITE SHOTS!
Just a few example of some portrait head shots that are used for a corporate setting. These photos are used for profile such as advertisement and social media as well as others. This is where the client will meet you first and you want to appear to be a warm open minded person that welcomes their attention and company.
The IdeaThe idea of the 30 day challenge is to take at least 1 photo each day. it can range from a simple snap shot to a well prepared photograph or even more. The idea is to get photographers to start seeing more creative shots, to help plan out their shots and visualize what the shot will look like before they even touch a camera. This method is widely used throughout all the world and some people even go for a 365 day challenge. But me? I would forget ha ha, so i'm sticking with something a little more down to earth and on my scale. So for 30 days starting today 12/7/2012 i will take & edit 1 photograph every day for the next 30 days until 1/6/2013. These photos will vary from black and white, color, portrait, nature, macros, subversive, etc... Subscribe to my RSS feed or like my Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/Jwayneproductions to follow along with my 30 day challenge, and even post some of your work to my site with the title "MY 30 Day Challenge" and lets do it together! READY.....SET.....GO!!!
